So first, let's get the obvious out of the way: This isn't a true tube preamp, it's a hybrid. The blue light emitted by the tubes is an LED built into the bottom of the tubes. As a result, this phono stage is no better than a $20-$30 solid state preamp. he just looks way cooler. While this preamp isn't exactly RIAA compliant, it offers similar performance. Compared to my Rotel phono stage in the A/B test, the only discernible difference I noticed was +1dB difference at the 39dB setting on the Douk preamp, which is close enough for my purposes. The frequency response is fully in line with industry standards. If you are looking for a true "tube phono stage" then this isn't it. However, if you're just looking for a solid, decent quality phono stage, this is definitely for you.
