My partner has asthma so we have air purifiers in the living room and master bedroom. The Germ Guardian AC5250PT is usually in our master bedroom but also travels with us in our RV. Overall, we are satisfied with the device: it filters well with an acceptable noise level (if the fan speed is reduced by one notch from maximum). We like the slim tall form factor to minimize wasted space. There are a couple of disappointments: Even after the briefest power outage (0.03 seconds), the Germ Guardian AC5250PT will turn itself off and won't turn back on when power is restored. In our fairly new house, those 0.03-second - Power outages usually occur a few times a month during storms and we often don't notice them, except at some point we notice that the Germ Guardian is off, so with a larger device I can move it around to avoid power outages. Feeding the germ guard That seems superfluous. a properly designed device would simply remember its settings. The Germ Guardian AC5250PT also has two pesky lights: a bright red power light on the front of the unit and a bright blue UV lamp dome. I've tamed the red with LightDims - an LED cover that dims the light, but the blue envelope around the UV light is too big for that, so I'm trying to live with that. Why don't designers understand that bedroom products must be designed to minimize or eliminate light pollution?
