Without changing the external filter.

To me having a canister filter in a ridiculous location (above the lever assembly, Audi A4 '08) is PRICELESS. Saved me so much dirt from the filter. And the thickness of the tube is good. I like that they are extra long, I cut off a bit more for my car but it works great. I like the 2 way system. 1 to screw to the bottom of the filter, the other to open the drain valve.

Works well on VW 2.5 5cyl

I'm sure it will fit other VW/Audi models but works well on my 2012 Passat 2.5L. The blue part screws into the bottom of the filter housing, then the black part screws in to begin draining the oil. Once the oil has slowed significantly, you can remove the filter housing without making a lot of mess, and then drain any remaining used oil still in the housing into a drain pan. I use ramps for the front of my car and the tube that came with was a nice length so I cut it to just the right length to

Great adapter, worked great

Worked great for draining oil from the VW oil filter housing before removing the cover and replacing the filter element. The adapter is made of durable plastic and seems to be holding up well after multiple uses. There are aftermarket adapters that cost twice as much, not to mention the insanely expensive VW adapters. I can't imagine how they can perform any better than these. It costs money not to deal with oily goo and try to drain the body by using needle nose pliers to push the drain nipple
