It pays off with the frustration saved!

This tool makes it easy to extract two very strong springs. These were the springs that held the exhaust canister to a motorcycle's exhaust pipe on a road bike. Could have been a little better with a soft thick finish on the grip. The angle of the hook was key in making it work so well.

Decent tool for drum brake springs

The last time I replaced the drum brakes on my Corolla I vowed never to do it again without scheduling spring work. With a little research, this tool has saved many injured fingers and broken springs. I'm not sure how well this would work on the big drums you find on trucks (although I think it's ok), but it worked great for economy/sedans.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Update availability

Useful tool in brake adjustment tools

This tool quickly got the job done with the heavy duty stainless steel springs used in the Can Am Maverick X3 exhaust. Much safer than using needle nose pliers. This is one of those cases where you probably won't use this tool often, but when you need to use it, it makes things 10x easier. It's inexpensive and doesn't take up much space in the toolbox, but I think it paid for itself with a one-time use.

Works as intended Suitable for brake tools

The spring adjustment tool is nothing special. I bought this spring adjuster tool for new motorcycle exhaust manifolds and it worked great. Strong enough for strong spring tension and has a hook angle for hard-to-reach places. Doesn't bend or flex when pulled and I wasn't worried about the springs slipping off during installation. I wish I had this when replacing drum brakes on a former old truck I had. Length 6 inches, grip width 3 inches. Fits all my T-handle Allen/Torx keys in my tool box.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Working speed

good tool. Worked well

UPDATE (February 25, 2017): Added 2 stars (now 5 stars). Did a few more braking operations with the tool. It worked great and was very quick and easy. Faster and easier than using the vise I used before. Although the vise works well too. Well done ABN. well done. ---------- Not very useful for me. The angle appears odd when inserting and removing the spring. Slowed me down a lot and was extremely inefficient. This tool just didn't work. I am generous with three stars. Suggestion: Use a pair ofโ€ฆ
