Nice set of front and rear shock absorbers for our Traxxas Slash

Was hoping to install them before reviewing but delayed too long. are a great replacement for the shocks that come with the Traxxas Slash and after a quick comparison they appear to be an upgrade. As you can see from the picture, they look good too. This is a nice addition when the product meets useful needs. list, but nicely done! Given what my son enjoys doing with his Slash, they will serve us well. :-)

Pros
  • Vibration and shock absorber
Cons
  • No instructions

Not very smooth or strong

They work, but not that well. They don't move smoothly - it's fairly common for the rod to get stuck in the canister, making the job a bit rough. Maybe everything will be fixed with use, but I don't expect it. I will probably choose another product to replace it. It's not that easy to open the canister when you need to service it - they haven't machined any of the flat parts on top, so you can get a wrench to get a good grip. Also, one end is all plastic and I doubt it will last very long withโ€ฆ

I will not use these.

Not entirely aluminum and not smooth at all. I used some fairly light oil in them and found them pretty bad - they don't really improve the plastic shock absorbers of the simplest models just in cosmetics, not in functionality. They are nowhere near as good as the Slash Platinum shocks and feel less smooth than the plastic based shocks. I often change pistons to tune shocks and tune my suspensions, but I wouldn't waste time doing it. There's nothing wrong with going for a cosmetic "upgrade"โ€ฆ

  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
