perfect size, performance and alarm

easy to use, works great, no false alarms but move the bike and the alarm works as it should. a strong locking mechanism and heavy-duty steel, but not heavy enough to be carried around on your motorcycle for day trips and overnight. Better than lugging around a heavy chain and lock in my opinion.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

More durable disc lock

This disc lock definitely makes the disc a weak point compared to the lock. The thicker shackle looks much harder to cut and cannot be broken with bolt extractors like regular disc locks can. Abus can also use chain locks with the same core, so a key can be used when extra security is required.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Hard wearing but not weatherproof

Works well but definitely not weatherproof. I bought it because I don't have a garage to store my bike in and even with it covered, if it gets wet dirty parts and keys will stick. If you use it sparingly like when going out to eat or whatever I'm sure it's great but not for everyday all day use.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons

I park on the street with confidence

I've been using this lock every day on my Triumph for a year now and I'm going to change the batteries for the first time. That was great; I just wish the alarm clock was a little louder. I'm lucky that my bike is parked about 10 feet from my bedroom window and the alarm will definitely wake me up at night, but you might not hear it from 50 feet or more away. Another excellent protection against theft and a secure lock.

Pros
  • There are few competitors
Cons

Quality and good design

I put my 1978 HD at risk. I had to drill a vent hole on my rear drive to use the device. It meets my expectations and I like the added security. I ended up buying a matching chain which also works well. I suggest buying them together to save a few bucks. When using chain, you need a minimum .760 bore for the stopper pin. it's not that loud, but it will put you off. Bluetooth connection with your phone would be great.

Pros
  • Solid workmanship
Cons
  • Nothing here

A secure lock priced at

Nothing to say about the Detecto X Plus other than it works as intended and keeps my BMW safe in my garage. The alarm is very loud and will defiantly scare off a would-be thief if it goes off. It is very durable and has a certain weight, if you were to take it with you in your backpack you would definitely feel it. The problem I had was that I couldn't mount it on the rear wheel due to the larger size compared to other Abus disc locks. Not a breach of terms and conditions by any means, just…

Some bikes are awkward to get on, but seem to work.

1. When strapping this to your bike, quickly clip and get out of the way. It detaches almost instantly, even if you're still trying to latch it and get the lock and key. Have it locked up and walk away.2. The angle for some rims makes it difficult to properly tilt the key and open or close it without actuation. as soon as you can. This unfriendly user can also be an asset and keep someone away when trying to pick it as it may not be easy for them to access the lock without disabling it.

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Compatibility

Not cheap but worth it; Double check the pin and gap measurements

After cutting through the heavy Abus chain overnight we added it to our small electric moped that was being stored outside. Although the moped has disc brakes, the design does not allow it to fit through holes in the disc and therefore needs to be mounted on the front wheel. Therefore, the pin size and gap size on the device must be compared to your vehicle's brakes/wheels/disc space. It works well for us there too and combined with an even heavier/harder chain it has already put off those who…
