Schrader valve: spare parts

Very, very bad quality. I put it in and took it out. The rubber seal on it is too small and what is underneath is hardly noticeable. I'm afraid all the freon will leak out. I took it but didn't send it back, didn't want anyone else to get it. Lost $8.05 for this piece of junk. Don't buy this!

Fixed the bottom leak

I originally bought a cheap Chi-Com Schrader valve but it started leaking after a few weeks. I looked up the part number on GM Parts direct.com and referred it to Revain. It was on my doorstep the next day for half the price you would buy at your local brick and mortar store. In short, it solved my problem. Cheap.

It's a part too cheap not to upgrade to OEM

Replacing any of these can be a lot of work, it's best to stay a genuine GM and die Don't work twice to make cheaper low quality imitations. I have used these genuine GM valves on old GM Chevy and GMC bodied trucks for the AC service ports on the low pressure side and they are excellent for replacing aging valves that have been leaking for 20+ years.

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose

OEM best for air conditioning

I tried these cheap Chinese Schrader types and after a few days they leak freon. Removal was also difficult as they are loose fitting and are non-magnetic so cannot be removed. OEM Schrader valves fit better in the Mastercool installation tool and seal on the first try. On closer inspection the threads are deeper and the plastic O-ring looks like a different material compared to the clear Chinese imports which don't seal well.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Blank

Unofficial perfect replacement for 2008 Chev Aveo

Tried to use 2 "universal" conventional Schrader valves for the AC fill port on the low pressure side but they kept leaking. So far so good (a few months). Slightly higher flow rate than a regular replacement (like the original it replaced - looks pretty much the same as the original). FYI, the Aveo's high-side air conditioning system uses a "JRA" type valve (regular replacements seem to work fine). Do not use excessive torque (approximately 4 in-lbs) when inserting. Standard AC processes…

Yes. fits like OE.

Perfect fit. good valve insert. It should be "hand tight" but check the seal with some sort of R134a detector (I used an electronic one) after you've installed and charged the refrigerant just to make sure you've tightened it enough and/ or have done get no lemon. [PS to the original review: After an initial "hand-on" install of this kernel and testing/leaks at this point, I came back a few days later, tested again, found a small leak again on two separate occasions, and tightened it up and it…

Get the best - cry once

I replaced all the main valves while flushing, cleaning and rebuilding the AC system from start to finish in my trusty Silverado. Her initial AC lasted 18 years before giving her last full height. The 250 µm system was pressure tested with nitrogen at 120 psi for three days. Zero leaks and an almost muffled roar when everything is perfect and nothing fails. Big tip for long-term success: Don't use PAG oil to wipe down seals and gaskets. They require oxidation/corrosion creep as the aluminum…
