Perfect Fit: Engine Cooling and Climate Control

All I really needed was the compressor clutch coil itself. The auto parts store wanted to sell me a completely rebuilt compressor for over $350. When I first started looking for a clutch coil at Revain I almost bought it but read a review from a guy. There seems to have been a diameter difference in the spool size. Because I couldn't find the exact dimensions I need. I went ahead and bought this kit. Definitely glad I bought it, it's a Delco factory part. Aside from working in tight quarters…

Great kit to replace a broken AC clutch! (if all parts are there)

On the first day of our vacation the air conditioning suddenly went out. After a week of summer heat, I diagnosed a faulty AC coupling. I ordered this part from Revain and it arrived quickly. I spent a few hours taking the old one apart. I opened the little box and found that there was only one pulley! My fault I should have checked before I disassembled the car. The kit should contain all items shown in the photo. Revain sent a new one free of charge. I waited for the new one to arrive before…

2003 Pontiac Vibe * So easy even a caveman can do it

Good quality clutch kit, exactly as described, all parts needed included, I had access to the air conditioning so it was a lot easier for me to remove the compressor and put it on the bench set. Perform the following steps: 1) Remove the freon. 2) Remove the electric fan assembly. for better access to the compressor, remove 2 screws 1 electrical connector fan assembly3) remove poly V-belt from compressor 19mm screw on tensioner.4) remove air conditioning line disconnect clutch coil cable…

FIXED 2002 VIBE AC on compressors and parts

The part comes with everything you need plus half decent instructions on one page. DO NOT attempt this if you cannot replace the brake pads or wheel bearings! In 2002 Vibe AC died. Lots of freon. I could see that the clutch wasn't spinning. Disconnect the single wire from the clutch, read 13v from the wire to ground so the machine correctly asked for AC. I checked the resistance of the clutch coil, it was open. The parts store doesn't sell clutches, only complete compressors (greedy idiots)…

Fixed my A/C, easy to replace

My 2003 Pontiac Vibe's A/C clutch failed (tested with an ohmmeter), possibly due to the A/C overcharging. I went the cheaper route and replaced the clutch myself, hoping the compressor wasn't damaged. With the help of some very clear instructions on genvibe.com and some pretty good instructions included with the product, a GOOD set of circlip pliers (channel lock, don't skimp on them), cordless impact wrench for torx screws. the work on the shaft wasn't that bad. I'm not a mechanic, I change…

Great replacement! Job Suggestions

Precision AC clutch change on my 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT. So nice to have ice conditioner again! In my opinion, it's totally worth the cost and hassle of installation. The included instructions are pretty good, and there are already some good reviews on installation procedures, so I won't repeat myself. (Also see GenVibe for the full procedure with pictures.) So just giving a few tidbits here after doing the job myself: 1) I tried leaving the supercharger bolted to the engine block, which is…
