Doesn't work as hoped

We bought this for our chicken coop over the winter to keep an eye on the temperature as where we live it often dips into the tens and single digits . We had line of sight between the kitchen window where we placed the display and the chicken coop. The total distance is about 30 feet. We rarely, if ever, have accurate readings.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

Can't take colder temperatures

I had this while walking up Mount Rainer. I wanted to see how well isolated my lair is from the outside. Most of the night the display simply read LL (lower limit). other thermometers showed 14*f. It may be ok if you use it in Mexico. But don't expect the numbers to drop to 20*f. All in all I'm disappointed. I highly recommend this to see if your bird bath has ice in it.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank

Outside temperature measurement back on, back off

This product has not been reliable since the day I bought it. It displays the outside temperature correctly for about two months. Then you need to remove and change the batteries in the receiver, then it will work for a couple more months and start failing again. It doesn't look like there's an easy way to contact the manufacturer. I would not buy this product again and cannot recommend it.

Pros
  • practical article
Cons
  • so far so good

Great minimalist cordless thermometer

I bought two of these and have had them for over a year now. I've installed outdoor sensors on the north side of my house here in rainy Seattle and they've never let me down. Perfect minimal small display. My only concern is that they have been warning me about low battery for about six months (so no need to replace those batteries when the warning comes up) - the original batteries still work! Also bought as a gift.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Everything ok

Works more or less as expected

This was an update for me. I used a cheaper model from Wal-Mart. The previous model of external transmitter did not hold moisture and corroded to the point of failure. This lasted about 3 years. This transmitter is much better, has a convenient handle for external connection. I actually only use one of the transmission blocks for the two inner blocks, so I have a second outer block to replace if it rusts. The temperature appears to be more stable at around +2 degrees Fahrenheit than near…

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Available in white only
