This is my third pair of boys' boots from this manufacturer. I'm an older woman who loves the fit and functionality of these boots. I'm just saying you don't have to be a boy to buy and wear them. I get them in size 6.5 (I usually wear 7.5 or 8 for women's shoes) and they are wide enough for my not narrow feet. Perfect fit as I can wear thicker socks with it. A good solid shoe. Doesn't look or feel cheap. I wanted something for my 3 year old so he could hike the trails with his dad. His sneakers were too small for him, he got wet all the time and his winter boots were too big. You were perfect. I ordered a half size up hoping they'll make it by fall. You can't check your toe because it's heavy, but as soon as I saw it walk I knew it was good. I am very happy with it. And they are cute. So the boot is solid. The Heal has a cool ice pick that folds into itself/into the boot. It doesn't go through the sole, but metal (yes, those are metal ice axes) won't hit the ground unless you seriously wear down the soles of the boot themselves. Which, frankly, would be impressive if you did. The only complaint is that the upper doesn't compress well and is just snug enough, but not firm enough (if that makes sense) to rub against the skin and irritate or even damage the skin of the foot…
