Merrell Steps Ridge Hiking Toddler Boys' Shoes Review

This is a great option for your little one. I wish they had a fully waterproof version. They will definitely get wet if your child stands in a puddle, but are good for splashes or muddy conditions. We bought these because Keen doesn't make waterproof shoes for toddlers under a size 8 and it was about as close as we could get as a traveller.

15 month old first campers and they are great! She loves running them all the trails at the local park, she just wishes they were a size 3 but with a size 4 she will be able to spend more time doing it when she grows up. A good choice if you are looking for real walking shoes for your little ones.

We love these shoes. Our daughter wears the wide version and has supported her on many adventures. We have bought it in 4 sizes over the years and plan to buy them for her little sister too. The velcro could have been a little tackier, but overall this is a comfortable, durable, lightweight shoe for toddlers with adequate ankle support.

I bought these for my 2 year old son to wear when we walk trails (rocky/rough terrain). They were easy to put on and take off. My son has never complained about how they felt and they were perfect for ankle support.

Less than a week. When I took them out of the box I realized that they are of poor quality and won't last long. Felt stiff and cheap like cardboard. I expected more than a week of use. Return these.

I bought these on a whim as we were getting ready for vacation and thought it would be cute for my 17 month old daughter to have her own walking shoes. These are really high quality shoes and they fit very well. She wore them on every terrain throughout our vacation and I truly believe they helped her walk more confidently on uneven surfaces. Now we still use her at home when she is outside and needs good traction. We definitely got our money's worth with them.

In short: my toddler had 3 pairs of these. Everyone thinks they are so cute. They hold up well, don't get dirty and wear like normal branded tennis shoes. They are very grippy, sometimes sticking too tightly to hardwood floors, but we love them anyway. We'll just keep buying her as she gets bigger.

Velcro lost its stickiness within a month. One of the shoelaces also snapped. My kid also complained that the edge of the shoe was stiff and cut his ankle. You can expect more from children's shoes for almost fifty euros.

My baby loves them! They are very light and so comfortable to put on, my 2 year old isn't speaking yet but his face and reluctance to take them off tells me he loves them. We're going to try them out for our first hike this weekend, so I'll come back and post my review accordingly.

Our daughter had trouble walking. We bought these to provide some ankle stability. They seemed to work pretty well. Offers some ankle support but not too high on the ankles to be uncomfortable.

The best shoes for my little girl! They are wide, soft and flexible. I usually buy their boys shoes because they seem wider and more functional. Also, the velcro sticks and stays pretty dry.

I ordered a size larger for my daughter. She is 3 1/2 and a size 7, I ordered a size 7.5. She is a bit big but I hope her foot will have grown a bit more by the time we travel. If not, we'll just double up their socks. It's like a huge size difference. You are gorgeous! And they show really good traction. She loves them too.

This is my granddaughter's second pair after she outgrew the first pair. They fit perfectly and will hold up after many hikes and normal use.

My 4 year old daughter climbed some mountains in the national park this summer and wore these amazing shoes! Very convenient. We will probably buy her again when she grows up. Great all-round shoe with great functionality. It takes zero time to crack. :)

So I'm not sure how waterproof they are. I contacted Merrell and asked if I could spray them with waterproofing spray and they said yes so I did before my son wore them out. So now they are waterproof and they fit him well, he seems comfortable. I love the look of them and they are pretty easy to put on. I'll definitely get another pair.

They are perfect for our little one! They're not waterproof, but we haven't had any problems with water ingress and we hike a lot, plus our daughter hasn't encountered puddles or snowdrifts, which she doesn't like.

Great matching shoes. I love colors and style. Nice wide toe. Easy to put on and take off for my son. The problem was that the velcro only wore out after less than a month of use. Which makes them useless. Come on Merrill, you can do better!

My little one loves her boots and they look so cute on her feet! They are comfortable and sit well on the ankles. We have used them for hiking and the grip is good. She hasn't complained and she loves them! Time for a new pair as she outgrew it in just 2 months! So I would recommend buying one size larger.

These shoes are perfect for my toddler's wide feet! They are surprisingly easy to put on despite being large. The flexible sole allows my child to walk naturally. Some reviews have described poor water resistance, but that's not our experience. We live in PNW and this shoe has seen heavy rain and puddles. Feet haven't gotten wet yet. It is difficult to find affordable sandals for children. These shoes have a wide tie box, flexible sole and zero drop. And very durable shoes for a boy who can handle shoes roughly. So I'll probably wear the same pair every winter.
