You must charge the battery for the first time within 24 hours before using it. After that, you should not charge for more or less than 12 hours, otherwise you will endanger the battery. We first bought the Aero single bed in 2011. We were so pleased with this air bed that we bought two more last year. Difficult to fit a family of five, which is why we pack these bags with Coleman Sabine sleeping bags when traveling to visit friends and family. This March 6, 2020 update: I am still very happy with my aerobed. I read some of the reviews and I think some of them wrote about a different aerobed. My pump has a cord and no battery.
