Description of Alessi Anna G Corkscrew Black

Renowned for applying new, fun designs to everyday household items, Alessi has done it again with this corkscrew. Alessandro Mendini designed the opener in 1994, modeled after his girlfriend and fellow designer, Anna Gili. Crafted from chrome-plated zamak; turn the head to insert the screw and lower the arms to uncork. Available in a choice of colors; makes a perfect gift for newlyweds and new homeowners. Measures 2-3/4 inches wide by 9-1/2 inches long and is easy to spot in any drawer.

Good product, bad packaging

We bought the black one and it came in the blue box. Also, the box was really worn out. Of course there was a nice black corkscrew in there. We already have it, so we know it looks good. Problem is, it was supposed to be a gift. So we're giving these away in the wrong color box, which is very worn. It's uncomfortable. It's not a time to change either.

Pros
  • Available in different colors; makes a great gift for honeymooners and new homeowners
Cons
  • Great Price

We just discontinued it

My husband got Alessi for his 30th anniversary 22 years . Our sweet little girl has easily opened over 1000 bottles of wine! so the price is good. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars is because the yellow collar was the first thing to snap early on, but it's just a guide and we never needed it. We order another one and keep our fingers crossed that it's just as good for us as "their number 1".

Pros
  • 2-3/4" wide by 9-1/2" long and easy to find in any desk drawer
Cons
  • Not bad but...

I got one of these as a gift about 12 years ago. It went out of service about 2 years ago. Since then I have had at least 6-7 different wine extractors. None of them lasted from several weeks to several months. I was willing to spend a few euros to get something of decent quality. There is no such happiness. It lacks good quality corkscrews at a reasonable price ($12-$40 for me). I had a hard time finding this, even on AMZN. I had to google "Wine Lady" before I found it. I was a little…

Pros
  • Alessandro Mendini designed the bottle opener in 1994 after his friend and fellow designer Anna Ghily.
Cons
  • New competitors have appeared.
