Once you've started with Melissa and Doug's spinner set, use the M&D refill. ALEX makes great toys but this replacement set is very disappointing. The paper card is thin and has a matte finish that seems to pull all of the color out of the card. The colors are much paler. When mixed together they give a cloudy color. Avoid it, stick with Melissa and Doug.

We knew it wouldn't be a perfect match for our car but ordered it anyway. I had no problems with the paper that came with it. However, the ink (although there is plenty of it) doesn't want to stick to any other paper we got from another source. It still gives off some color, but it seems to fall off rather than saturate like some other colors do. He still made fun drawings and the amount of color is great.

I bought this item more for the paper than the color. I was too lazy to cut bigger. I was very disappointed when the paper in this set didn't fit our drawing wheel, so I had to cut the paper anyway! We have a spinner that runs on dough. The paper is too small to fit in the large cavities of the spinner and too big to fit in the smaller cavities.
