Description of ๐Ÿ“ธ Black ALZO Horizontal Camera Mount: Tripod Accessory for Enhanced Overhead Product Photography Support

Solid 33 inches long, 5/8 inch diameter aluminum bar with camera mount screw and a tripod clamp; made of hard black anodized for years of trouble-free service. Rod includes grooved end to allow hanging a counter weight or water bottle; maximum recommended camera weight is 2 pounds without counterbalance, and 8 pounds with a counterbalance, see image with water bottle. Tripod Clamp attaches to any tripod with 1/4 x 20 camera screw and allows for adjusting rod extension length, as well as camera rotation. Important tripod accessory for overhead photography of small objects that cannot easily stand up on their own for a frontal shot; we recommend a wired or wireless camera shutter release for use with the ALZO Horizontal Camera Mount. NOTE: A tripod or any other components shown in the images are not included with this product; includes a user guide (see link below under "Technical Specification").

Good for overhead shots.

I needed an overhead mount and it suits my needs perfectly. I can capture my desktop while doing nice work. All you need is a sturdy tripod to mount it on and a counterweight for the other end of the camera.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Bad kit

Good price, quality product.

I was skeptical because of all the negative reviews. But for $50 it was a great product purchase. It's not underpowered in my budget and will hold my 70D gun without counterweights. (Of course I'll probably add a little bit on security). This is my first tripod so I can't compare it to others but I give this tripod 5 stars.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Negative experience

Hey it worked! on camera mounts and clamps

This worked great for a photo shoot where I needed a direct view of the subject from above. Despite its simple design, it would fit my 31.1 ounce Nikon D810 plus lens. I remained cautious during the shoot as its design didn't inspire confidence in me. Tightening the screw on the shank leaves sharp silver scars that contrast against the black background. However, it worked.

Better buy a mic stand and converter

I wouldn't trust a DSLR fully extended, even with a counterpoise. It's just too unstable for me. The part where it attaches to the tripod also gets loosened regularly and is quite heavy. I ended up buying a mic stand and attaching a converter. Much more flexible and (at least for me) much safer.

Pros
  • Pretty package
Cons
  • So-so

Camera mounts and clips are good or bad

The concept is great and the price is perfect if you don't want or can't spend the big bucks on a Manfrotto overhead mount. However, if you have to pull it out more than halfway, even with the use of counterweights, there may be some wobbling. I bought this to shoot YouTube videos from above and I need to expand it a bit due to my setup. Now I want to sell this one and get a tripod that suits my needs.

Recording videos from above is very easy!

Works exactly as described. It is very easy to mount on a camera tripod plate and the stem is very easy to move to the desired position. You may need to add some water bottle weights if you have a heavier DSLR like mine (Canon T5i) but it keeps it very light. I've never experienced flex or anything like that on a heavy camera. The thread is long enough to securely attach to the camera. Overall it's perfect for my shoots and I love it! I would recommend this to anyone who needs to shoot fromโ€ฆ

Inexpensive, not heavy

This mount is just what I needed for my tabletop photography. The only good use I've found for this hand is on the horizontal plane and that's it. You can mount the sides to two posts and slide the center piece from side to side. It's well built and not as heavy as it looks, but did a great job with my Canon 5D MK II with a 16-35mm lens and flash. Just don't overload it too much, as the center mount doesn't feel like it can hold too much weight. Don't lift it too far off the table in case theโ€ฆ

This is a dynamite product

I read reviews before buying and there were more negative than positive. I needed a pole to take portrait or ground shots, so I jumped at the chance and bought this product. From previous reviews I took a different approach for mounting on a Ravelli tripod and Canon camera (lens EF 24-105 L IS USM). I also bought a GKGK G07 tripod grip and a Monfrotto screw adapter to attach to this pole. Putting everything together I really felt the backlash that other reviewers wrote about, so I went to theโ€ฆ
