My IT man husband loves it

Set up was easy compared to the brands we have had in the past. Works well with 2 x 6 terabyte drives. Adding the Amcrest cameras was very easy. It's a bit difficult to get HikVision cameras to work. I love using the android app for remote viewing.

  • Few competitors
Cons

Great product and even better tech support

I have tried other CCTV recorders that are much more expensive. I wasn't happy with any of them. Not only did this NVR do a much better job, but when I needed help with tech support, Ben H. went out of his way to help. It makes or breaks the product if you need help!

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Don't Buy It - Security and Surveillance

Buy Amcrest if you don't want to buy anything but Amcrest cameras. My last NVR worked with my Amcrest camera, but the Amcrest NVR only works with Amcrest cameras. I will be buying another dash cam as I only paid $279 for Amcrest. To replace cameras I would have to hire someone to install new cameras and pay over $1,000 for new gear.

High Performance NVR: Surveillance Equipment

We have been using Amcrest cameras and NVRs for many years. After upgrading from 8 1K cameras and 8ch Amcrest NVR to 16 4K cameras and 16ch Amcrest NVR, we found that the 6TB drive can only record 3 days of video. Amcrest containing 2 x 10TB drives. Now we can save almost 2 weeks of video!

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons

Great product with great support

Install a video surveillance system for a friend in his house. Used Amcrest IP cameras and this NVR. It was easy to set up but there were some issues with viewing all cameras, 8 of them, remotely and sometimes in the NVR. I've been working with support on this issue and have received some indication that the problem was some sort of glitch in the WiFi system. Set up a Wi-Fi system and the problems have been resolved.

Pros
  • Nice design
Cons
  • Bad experience

Major Security and Surveillance Improvements

If you want to get rid of choppy live video streaming, this will help. I bought an Amcrest Nvr last year to use with my 8 4k cameras but I also need to use the HDMI output for the TV monitor around the house. When you connected more than 1 4k camera, the video stream was choppy and time out of sync. I've tried every Amcrest camera model and setting, but none of them worked. Now with this new DVR I have all 8 in 4k mode and it's perfect video streaming, no stuttering or lag.

NVR Remote View Error

I have several Amcrest and NVR cameras installed in different locations. Everyone faces the same problem when remote monitoring stops working within hours or even days using a professional monitoring app. Amcrest support provided me with several different clients for professional surveillance and even tested different NVR models, all to no avail. However, the problem is clearly not in the client but in the DVR itself because when this problem occurs you cannot even get a browser login by going…

  • Easy to read control panel

Works well Generally the fan is not very good

16ch DVR arrived on time, well packaged and no damage. I bought an AMCREST DVR to get rid of the constant "Login timed out" message that Amcrest had. The main thing is that the cameras connect quickly. However, the CPU temperature is quite high, at least I think so. I removed the cover, also to install hard drives, and noticed that the fan was a bit anemic. There are cutouts for two fans on the side of the case. Not sure how this will affect the warranty, but I replaced one fan with a Noctua…
