They did their job but didn't stay where they were. But since my son is 5, it was almost cute that his bow tie didn't hold up properly.

It fits my 5 year old son very well. Not sure if it will fit a 10 year old or older. The bow itself is about 4 inches long. It has an adjustment, the closure is some kind of "Velcro". It's not too shiny stuff, just a little bit, which looks pretty formal.
