Description of American Metalcraft WCS871 Straight Corkscrew

Corkscrews & Pullers. The Color Is Silver. Made Of Steel. Waiter's straight knife corkscrew is an economical choice that many bartenders and servers prefer. The entire piece is made from metal for a durable piece of equipment and everything tucks away into a single straight piece. The foil knife cleanly removes foil around the top of the bottle and flips into a resting place in the body of the corkscrew when not in use. The screw is then placed in the cork and the leverage piece is placed on the lip of the bottle. The lever is also fixed with a second opener for use with beer bottles.

Does not work with corkscrews or bottle openers

Something about the shape of the bottle opener makes it difficult to use. It's not as good as what I lost and need to replace. Sigh.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Large and bulky

small and inexpensive - perfect for my purse

Simple, small and inexpensive - perfect for my purse! I did NOT give it 5 stars because I had/lost a better one that ALSO had a bottle opener. My cousins joked that I was ready to handle ANY alcohol emergency with it in my purse!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Electrical outlet required

Disappointed: Corkscrew & Opener

I am disappointed. It was very difficult to remove the cork from a regular sized wine bottle. The corkscrew is not quite straight and does not fit the cork well as it is attached to the handle and also does not have a double hinge. I had to keep twisting and pulling in all directions and it hurt my fingers.

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Factor Set

Look elsewhere, waste $$

Poor design, poor manufacture, look elsewhere! It's very flimsy, when you try to use the cork it wants to bend at the pivot points. Also, the notch on the lever that engages the bottleneck is poorly designed. The fingers protrude so far that when the cork is pulled they are pressed into the cork, leaving two vertical cuts on the cork. This makes reusing the cork almost impractical (unless you don't mind pulling small bits of cork out of subsequent wine glasses that were poured after the cork…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Compatibility
