best metal file

I'm a sculptor and I use this on my bronzes to remove burrs and sprue residue - fantastic! Almost mirror smooth, never clogs, practically self-cleaning!

Sharp and fast. to Finishing Products

I use this to shape alabaster - it cuts it faster than my rough cut files but with more control than a rasp and leaves a surface that can be quickly smoothed out. Alabaster is gypsum, a very soft stone. The file arrived very sharp and well packaged. Sharpness retained after many hours of use. I would buy it again and probably will.

Pros
  • Hand Files
Cons
  • So far so good

The conical shape is good, but the inclination of the teeth causes the file to move to the left, creating asymmetrical grooves. To make matters worse, it facilitates threading in one direction and hinders threading in the other. This is not a major problem with flat files, but it is very noticeable with half-round files. Basically, it only works when you're driving with your left hand, but it snags and breaks when you're driving with your right.

Pros
  • Grinding and Finishing Materials
Cons
  • High Price
