MUSEUM-QUALITY AQUABORD: Acid-free clay and mineral ground on warp-resistant Hardbord. Highly-absorbent watercolor surface, similar in texture to cold-pressed watercolor paper. AMAZING WATERCOLOR SURFACE: Achieve truer, brighter colors, endless glazes and easily lift colors back to the white of the surface. Also a great surface for gouache, acrylic, and ink. HIGH-DENSITY HARDBOARD CORE: Unlike watercolor paper, Aquabord will not tear, shrink or buckle even under heavy water application - requires no stretching or mounting. Ampersand’s premium, warp-resistant, FSC-Certified Hardbord will ensure your artwork is supported. FRAME WITHOUT GLASS: Seal and display your artwork without glass. MADE IN THE USA: Unparalleled quality and craftsmanship has made Ampersand Art Supply the leader in painting panels for over 25 years.

Excellent Surface for Vibrant Artwork

The Ampersand Aquabord is a fantastic canvas for vibrant artwork. The surface is smooth and consistent and allows for perfect pigmentation. Arts and crafts have never been so fun with this product. After I put it to the test, I found that the paint didn't get absorbed into the board, ensuring that the colors were as vivid as possible. The only downside is the price, but it's definitely worth the investment for anyone serious about their art.

Pros
  • Great for watercolors and ink work
Cons
  • Not suitable for oil painting or heavy applications of paint

Totally different look than painting on watercolor paper

Thought I'd give this a try because I wouldn't need to cover it with glass to frame it, but the result just doesn't do justice to the watercolor pigments IMHO . I love watercolors because of the transparency and the colorful look. I couldn't achieve both with this board, it looked very flat. Luckily I just bought a little pack and after playing around with it it's all rubbish. Although it was interesting to experiment.

Pros
  • panels and canvas
Cons
  • Can't remember

A completely different look than painting on watercolor paper

I chose this one because I wouldn't need to cover it with glass to get a frame, but the results just don't match watercolor pigments in my opinion. I love watercolors because of the transparency and the colorful look. I couldn't achieve both with this board, it looked very flat. Luckily I just bought a little pack and after playing with it everything is in the trash. Although it was interesting to experiment.

Pros
  • AMAZING WATERCOLOR SURFACE: Achieve more precise, more vivid colors, endless glazes and easily bring the colors back to a white surface. Also an excellent surface for gouache, acrylic and ink.
Cons
  • crumpled
