This was a very disappointing purchase and clearly misleading. If someone buys handmade Japanese chopsticks, they shouldn't be made in China. I'm only giving 1 star because you can't put zero.

These sticks are really nice in person; However, they smell like shoe polish. When you open the packaging, there is a very strong smell of paint. There is nothing to suggest that any coating on them is actually food safe. I have bought many wooden chopsticks and have never had one that smelled like this. It's really unattractive to think it's dishes.

These wooden sticks are good for everyday use! I like the patterns that are here, but I'm not sure I like the way they printed them. The wood that the designs are mounted on is flat and it looks like they cut a flat piece just for printing, making the chopstick feel fickle from top to bottom. The rest of the stick is rounded.

These chopsticks are very beautiful. Wood is treated not to absorb liquid from food, making it very easy to clean. This reduces grip a bit, but not too much. They're ribbed near the tips to balance this out. Otherwise they are symmetrical, beautiful and of excellent quality. I expect them to last a very long time but if they do need replacing I will happily replace them again with this supplier!

These are chopsticks. They're definitely not badly made, but they're not dishwasher safe, so you'll have to hand wash them every time. The coating/paint comes off quite easily if you put it in the dishwasher, I don't recommend this. Overall they are what they are, you don't pay much money, you get half decent chopsticks. They are beautiful. However, when I opened the box they were packaged in, I almost choked. They smell very strongly of some kind of wood varnish. I've never had to air out my cutlery to get it out of the gas. I am considering returning them. I don't feel safe letting my family eat with them. I gave the stars for the beauty of this (useless) product. Shame.

These chopsticks are beautiful but paired with paper glued to them. The adhesive cannot be removed with alcohol or anything similar and we leave a coating that renders them unusable. I'm planning to return them and what's holding me back is that I keep thinking I can get the goo off their surface. If I try to remove them, it only gets worse. I finally gave up.
