I usually wear women's size 10 and women's medium in t-shirts, but I decided to order men's medium in this style to make it very loose to wear like pajamas . I liked red for Christmas. The male medium was very small and looked more like a little man or even a big boy. The sleeves were also a little tight, which was an even bigger surprise as men's sleeves seem to fit wider arms. 5'9" 185 lb Size small I actually think you'll be fine as long as you stick to what you normally get. The sleeve length of XL fits me but I'm afraid that going to medium or L will make them too short for the price it's not worth sending back so I'll order a size down and see what happens.

I am 6ft 3 inches tall and weigh about 200 pounds. I ordered the size Large. Great length shirt! a bit see through (see photo I took wearing it with a red shirt underneath). I'm perfectly happy with the thickness of the fabric, but that may bother some. For about $8 overall, a great buy.
