I always secretly shave when I first use preshave oil

Ask any barber or professional and they will tell you that the secret to a really close shave is in the preshave oil. At first glance, it may seem strange that you should wash your face first and then dry it completely before applying pre-shave oil. I think this preps the face and removes any unwanted dirt or facial oil. Then apply your favorite shaving cream/brush. Shaving Oil Cream definitely catches the eye from the first time. The Preshave Oil also allows you to set your razor at a more…

This item is perfect

The best thing I can say about this oil is that I know when I'm forgetting because my skin gets rougher after shaving without it. The oil makes my skin soft and razor friendly. No cuts or burns. The aroma is soft and pleasant. The small is very important, so it is a great value. It's always great when you find a personal care product that's perfect for you. I fear that one day Art of Shaving will change the formula like many other good products I find.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Great price

Nice, but unnecessary, unless you have a very thick beard, I think.

I'm starting to think I really don't need preshave oil as I've been using it for a few years now. I started lathering my shaving cream directly onto my face and don't notice any increased difficulty or "pain" when not using oil, which tends to form a sticky residue on my sink anyway. Its best function is probably to retain moisture in your stubble when you shave after washing your face. This is not necessary after a hot shower. Although I don't have a very stiff beard. Just average I would say.

Strong unpleasant smell although no fragrance

I have used Lemon Art of Shaving products in the past including Lemon Pre-Shave Oil. I really liked it and have bought it several times over the last few years. When I went out a month ago I tried to buy more but couldn't find a lemon - I chose unflavored and didn't mind switching to something unflavored. But the word "unscented" isn't the right word for this product - "unflavored" may be true, but it definitely has a strong smell. It smells like an old kitchen cupboard that contains all your…

Not for me (item returned).

After using Clinique shaving products for more than 10 years without any problems, I started looking for the best shaving products. I bought shaving cream, balm, preshave oil, a brush, and a quality razor for a total of about $450, which isn't a problem because I'm financially secure. Unfortunately, all of these products will be returned. Let's get to the preshave oil test: β€’ Why the hell wasn't this product made with a dropper? Anything in this price range and only 2 ounces needs a dropper…

Definitely NOT fragrance-free

I was hoping for a fragrance-free preshave oil when I tried a range of shaving creams. This oil has a specific scent that I read about after purchasing it :(, described as a hybrid of eucalyptus, pine and clove. To me the scent leans more towards clove. (FWIW, my wife hates it.) The oil is very thick and stays on the skin even after shaving Disappointing and I doubt I'll be using the rest.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Not trendy

Not very impressed

There are many good preshave oils on the market today. Many of them have a fairly pleasant smell. Although it claims to be odorless, to me it smells more like rancid nut butter. Think of one of your vegetable oils that has been sitting dormant for far too long. That's the taste I get from it. I will not order the product again. I prefer several other preshave oils that are in the same price range.

Cons
  • Too long to wait
