This may be specific to wearing in general, but .

This may be common with stretchers in general, but this one has a spring that needs to be installed with each use and then removed when finished. I know I'm gonna lose it

Good pliers - they did their job with no problems

Good pliers - they did their job with no problems. The main reason I chose these pliers is the soft grip material and beveled edges. Some pliers have sharp edges and can tear the canvas. There are no problems with this couple.

The rubber grips are loose and I can't get a good grip. So I had to remove these

This is terrible. The rubber grips are loose and I can't get a good grip. So I had to remove these. The feather comes out too easily and bounces around the room. And the lever part (the tab that needs to rest against the frame to get the cocking lever) is in the wrong place so it doesn't actually touch the wood. So I'm actually just stretching the canvas with pliers, but using my own strength, not the lever of the tool, to stretch it. So it doesn't work really well. And the product was dirty…
