Worth a few bucks more

Don't waste your time on less. I tried a few other cheaper jets but they failed miserably. The AT looks solid, has a nice finish and the wiring is as good as any other case I've seen (in this class), with good touch protection on the bottom end and some of the best cartridge connections of my experience. I've used it with several tables and haven't had any mounting or alignment issues.

Pros
  • Ultra-lightweight die-cast aluminum body minimizes vibration
Cons
  • No instructions

Screw and nut problem

I bought this shell to fit the new Audio Technica Mono03/SP but the screws were either too short or too long. Only 16 and 10 mm screws were included in the kit. There are no 12mm or 14mm screws. As in the photos, the 16mm screws go high above the cartridge and the 10mm screw cannot be tightened at all. If you are in the same situation as me, you need to buy the case screws separately to mount the AT Mono03/SP cartridge. Again, this hard case had to be fitted with multiple bolt and nut options…

Pros
  • Fitted with color coded wires
Cons
  • New competitors available

These are little things.

Two things that are very annoying about this shell.1. The pickup mounting screws are too big for the mounting rails on the headshell, making it very difficult to screw in the carriage. It's actually impossible to get it right as simply tightening the screws will cause the carriage to move. 2. The 4 pins on the end of the shell that connect to the arm are about 1/8-1/16 longer than they should be. This makes it difficult to use protrusion knives and the seat on the tonearm is not flush…

Pros
  • Includes mounting screws
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
