Expensive but you get a lot for the money.

Expensive but worth every penny. I bought this cartridge to replace the standard cartridge that came with my Audio Technica LP120USB turntable. Of the cartridges I own, the standard cartridge is the Nagaoka MP110 and this one, the AT-VM95ML, which handles internal groove distortion much better than any other, assuming the record itself isn't spoiled by playing with a bad or misaligned needle damaged . Sounds fantastic on both old records and new ones.

Pros
  • Aluminum boom
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks

It's really worth it!

Dealing with a lot of sibilance on some records with my Numark CC-1. Installed, balanced and counterbalanced (3 mins max) and instantly some records I was having trouble with sounded perfect. The S-shaped distortion just disappeared. The recordings are quieter between tracks. I don't hear any internal groove distortion either. This thing tracks everything. I have spent hours researching microlinear styli and am amazed that they make such a difference. From what I've read this is the lowest…

Pros
  • Threaded inserts in the cartridge body allow the cartridge to be attached to the cartridge body with just two screws - no nuts required
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Great sound, especially when you need to get deeper into the groove.

I have several Audio-Technica cartridges, Ortofon Red and Ortofon Blue. This is a versatile pickup with a great tone. .Where it particularly stands out to me is in my record collection from the 70's, 80's and 90's. Where other great sounding pickups on pristine LPs would pick up slight surface noise on those old LPs, I found this microlinear cartridge to completely render surface imperfections. I have a rather mediocre copy of The Police - Synchonicity with a lot of surface wear that sounds…

Pros
  • M Series dual magnet cartridge with 2.2 x 0.12mil micro-linear stylus
Cons
  • Problem

Brilliant clarity in turntable cartridges

Impressive on the first spin of the old AT95e. Very clear and concise. This can be good or bad depending on your taste. I found I needed to remove the mids and highs from my JBL Decade L36 speakers. This pickup captures the subsonic frequencies of distorted records. A receiver or phono stage with a subsonic filter will help eliminate woofer pumping. What they say about the ML's ability to track internal grooves with minimal distortion applies to my situation. The white Beatles album now plays…

Pros
  • Tough, low-resonance polymer body
Cons
  • Safety
