Good sound, bad delivery.

The first delivery was lost and it took an extra week to arrange a second delivery via Revain. The confusing "tracking" messages from Revain and the long wait to cancel the first order and "purchase" the item a second time wasn't quite the customer service I was expecting. When I finally got the stylus it worked very well. Relatively easy to mount on the head and good sound quality.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • No automatic

Outstanding sound and unbeatable price!

The AT-VM95SH delivers superb sound from the deepest bass to the highest frequencies with remarkable detail, clarity and no internal distortion. In my opinion the best pickup on the market in this price range. I also have an AT-VM95ML (Micro Linear) pickup. Both pickups are excellent and sound the same, but the VM95SH has a slightly "warmer" character with more dynamic bass/mids (more "thump"). Depending on what you prefer, it might be worth raising the price a bit to get the VM95SH. Or, likeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Amazing Gem: Turntable Pickup

I'll admit I'm easily fascinated by new stereo components, especially turntables and pickups. My last of many cartridges was the Nagaoka MP-110 with an MP-200 stylus. I bought it because I was bored (but never with Nagaoko) and wanted to try something new and different. I had never owned a Shibata stylus before, so I settled on the VM95SH. If I didn't like it, I still had Nagaoko. Wow! I installed this (yay, simple bolt-on system) on my music hall mmf 2.3 and was blown away almost immediatelyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Upgradeable

what i was looking for

Audio-Technica AT-VM95SHD pickup with two moving magnets and Shibata stylus. I have turned 40 years old. Sounds bad, but yes, in a way it is, but I've used good diamond-tipped needles and cartridges, both Stanton, and they're very good. They didn't really destroy my albums but you know man I've been getting it wrong all these years. I've searched a lot and every time I've come back to this cartridge and this pen. I find the price of this to be a really good deal compared to some I've looked atโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
