Great product for the 78's

Bought to listen to my collection of old 78's. This setup was easy to install. Although it's probably worth more than my entire collection of 78 shellac albums.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish

Great sound: pick-up for turntable

Installed on the Audio Technica AT-LP-120XUSB player. Sounds good. Rides well even on warped wheels. I haven't tried my most distorted 78s yet, so my tracking rating depends on more rigorous tracking testing.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Frequency

Easy to use, decent sound quality, good price

While not the best cartridge available, it's definitely worth the money, especially for the typical consumer who just wants decent sound quality at no extra cost. The sound could be a bit richer, but the overall impression is good. Extremely easy to install. It doesn't seem to have hurt my 78s.

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Senior Citizen

Good choice - glad I took the chance

The cartridge makes a huge difference when playing shellac 78 to the included AT-120USB cartridge. That should be the case, because the supplied one is optimized for the requirements of the 33/45 button for obvious reasons. I was impressed that it didn't even need to line up the cartridges - maybe that was luck. I also like the idea that I can upgrade the needle to Shibata without changing the cartridge.

Pros
  • Turntable cartridge
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Perfect for the 78's

I did a lot of research before purchasing the turntable as I inherited a pristine collection of 78's from the 1920's alongside some random 33" records. Audio Techica's support team guided me through sourcing the system I wanted and knew which pen/tip to use and how to take care of all my products! Your recommendation to buy this shell as a simple replacement for 78s was great advice! The product works great and delivers a great sound.

Pros
  • Electronic music, DJ and karaoke
Cons
  • Older model

A huge change in the playing and sound of my 78s!

OMG! no matter! I love the old 78s. I've played them on several conventional cassettes. Saw 78 AT at Revain and had to try it. difference between day and night. normal cartridge often slips on small flaws. it's not like this. The music is much warmer. clearer. and I'm by no means playing a perfectly clean 78. Made right in the 1940's! It sounds great. so easy to replace with the included head body. I am very happy. thanks AT and Revan.

Pros
  • DJ equipment
Cons
  • Slightly torn
