Top mic, best mics and accessories

I've been recording music and audio books for 50 years and this is the best mic I've ever used except when I'm in premier recording studios. How do these top-of-the-line mics differ from this one? My engineer says (with a smile) "About a thousand dollars."

Pros
  • Expensive but decent
Cons
  • Looks

The sound quality is well above the price range

This microphone has become much better than I expected from a USB device. So much so that I felt compelled to create a short 6.5 minute video review. I used the mic in this review for audio recording and I hope the sound quality will help you in your search for a mic that is well worth the price. By the way, I recommend you to connect good headphones to improve the sound quality while watching this video. So good build, quality build and a really clear, quiet mic that's easy to plug in and use.

Classic general-purpose condenser microphone

In fact, this is a working-class general-purpose microphone. Its decent price and very good sound reproduction in a controlled environment. Condenser mics are generally not designed for use in live performance, so you need to know this beforehand. In terms of condenser mics, the MXL 990 is the only other that can match this guy at this price point. I would say the 2020 has a warmer response. Quality wise I've dropped this mic a few times (I know it's not acceptable for condenser mics) and it…

Great XLR beginner mics and accessories

This is my first XLR mic I bought to replace the Blue Snowball ICE. The difference between day and night. Instrument: AT202P, Focusrite Scarlett Solo, 6ft Revain Basics XLR cable, cheap Neewer stem. The sound is bright yet rich. My voice isn't deep or loud, so it captures it well without making me sound like a little kid. I haven't noticed any noise floor issues, but I also don't work in a treated room so the audio drowns out any mic/interface noise floor issues. With no gain, this mic is…

Excellent choice for a home studio

Pros* Great recording quality* Fine workmanship Cons* A bit cumbersome for use on a desk Recommendations:* Get a floor-mount boom mic stand for this.* Get a pop -Filter.* Please note that this is not a noise-cancelling microphone. It will record your neighbor's dog barking and people's conversations in multiple rooms. I find the benefits of a large condenser mic primarily in (1) superior quality, (2) sensitivity, and (3) graceful mic clipping. By that I mean it doesn't just go as far as the…

The firmware is buggy but works fine.

Edit: I'm editing this review to show my dissatisfaction with AT support. I use this mic successfully, although the USB driver in the mic died a bit after the first 40 days (barely after the return period). I recently tried using it with JamKazam. The problem is that JamKazam says the rates are not in and out do not match. It's also impossible to get it to work. The microphone repair time is about 10 days after AT received the microphone. This does not include shipping. If you ship it with UPS…
