Description of πŸ”§ Enhance Debugging Capabilities with the ESP8266 ESP32 Automatic JTAG Debugging Practical ESP-Prog Program Downloader

It has automatic download firmware, serial communication, JTAG online debugging and other functions. These functions are available for the ESP8266 and ESP32 platforms. The user board is required to place the Program (6-Pin) and JTAG (10-Pin) connectors in the corresponding order. Considering that the power supply voltage of different user boards may be different, the two interfaces of ESP-Prog can select 5V or 3.3V power supply through Pin Header, which has strong power compatibility. Cables can be used to connect to the user board. The connectors are available in 2.54 mm and 1.27 mm pitch packages with a foolproof design. It is easy to use and can be connected to a computer with only one USB cable.

This speeds up troubleshooting.

This is a great little helper for debugging your esp32. I soldered the Dupont connectors to the included wires for easier connection. With the io platform I can now debug the code step by step and see what's going on. I highly recommend this article to anyone programming esp32 microcontrollers; It can help beginners to understand programming and advanced users to find difficult problems.

Great little ESP32 debugger for PlatformIO

Perfect JTAG debugger for ESP32. I was struggling with some code and had to look behind the scenes to understand what was crashing the kernel. This little guy and PlatformIO provided a quick and seamless setup for observing variables while code is running on the microcontroller. You don't need built-in debugging all the time, but when you do, having one is invaluable.

The best way I've found for debugging ESP32 devices

It was easy to set up and ran smoothly in my development environment (PlatformIO/VSCode on Linux). The only downside or limitation I've found so far is that the design on the board should have the JTAG pins (12-15) obviously broken or accessible via the header, but that's usually the case. Recommended.

Works with ESP32 Devkit

I use this with ESP32 DevKit C and NanoFramework Interop builds. I'm thinking about separating the CP2102 from the DevKit so I can use the programming port of the ESP32 Prog. I also tried debugging Visual Micro with ESP32 and PlatformIO on ESP32; I was unsuccessful, which doesn't mean it's not possible.
