Light and comfortable.

Solder new. Did the job I bought it for. As indicated on the packaging, the iron may smoke a little when heated for the first time. Smoked for 5-10 minutes then quit. There were issues with the "tinning" of the tip, but I'm sure it was my fault. The iron is very light and fits comfortably in the hand. Very comfortable grip. I was impressed that the handle itself didn't get hot. It would be nice if some sort of wire holder was included to keep it off the countertop, but no.

Best suited for PCB work, suitable for ferrules

I've been looking for a fine point iron, I see it in videos a lot, but my search never found this model. After using a couple of rather mediocre irons I finally came across the Aven 17521. It works fine for small circuit boards and general electronics. It has a specially coated tip that should never be filed and can be easily replaced. It heats up in minutes, is comfortable to hold and fits perfectly in my holder. At this price you can't go wrong. It arrived quickly in perfect condition. I…

Great Iron for Hobbyists

First things first, remember that you get what you pay for. In this case you get a quality fine tip iron at a very low price and considering that I would say it was a great purchase. The iron gets very hot. I couldn't measure how hot it is, but it's probably hotter than you need. If I point the tip down, the heated air coming out of the iron gets hot enough to burn my hand!
