Bayco LBC 100 Classic Incandescent Changer: Simplify Bulb Replacements with Ease Review

Compared to other similar products this is deceptively cheaper so I decided to give it a try despite the negative reviews. I used a broomstick to attach the device and tried it out by replacing a high ceiling light on our staircase. It worked like a charm the first time. The task took less than a minute.

I've tried using it in my hands - to change the bulb - before installing it on a pole and it really helped me get to know it before I put it on use a pole . Tires are VERY sticky. It's like having eight fingers with grippy rubber on each of the eight fingers. The rubber rubs off easily so dust/dirt won't affect the grip. I'll try to keep it in a zip tie so the rubber fingers keep the grip.

The device holds the light bulb in place. If you do not tighten the thumbscrew sufficiently, it will loosen and the device will hang on the lamp. According to one review, overtightening can cause cracking. Luckily I pulled the bulb out, but putting in a new bulb wasn't easy. I finally threw my hands up and my wife did it for the first time. One of the other reviews mentioned a broken lightbulb. The answer is potatoes. You put the potato in the lamp changer and spin it. Works great.

I was concerned it might be difficult to use. As it turned out, it worked great, making a previously impossible job (a tall fixture out of reach of my ladder) safe, quick, and easy. I bought this to replace outdoor lights that are in tight spaces. This is a very handy little device. I needed to replace 4 light bulbs in a 12 foot ceiling fan. I screwed the lamp changer to the end of the telescoping rod and secured the wing nut so it wouldn't turn when unscrewing the old lamps. The gadget worked like clockwork. For high spots, I attach a broomstick to an adapter and easily remove lightbulbs 10 feet up. As mentioned in the description this tool has threads that mate well with threaded handles for things like brushes, mops etc. Properly tightened, it almost eliminates the need for a set screw to keep the tool from twisting on the handle. If rotation becomes a problem, drill a small hole in the handle to tighten the set screw, which will instantly solve the problem. I first bought a whole set of these with three different sized fittings and a support from our local hardware store. However I really only needed one size of lamp changer so I returned the kit and bought this one. There were no individual sizes in our hardware store, just a set.
