Sturdy cast iron construction, tightens well. Only 2 things I don't care: the jaws are smooth, some items move when clamped, the second base clamp is strong but again it's smooth so the vise rotates. But overall it was worth the price.

Cheap. Just a little can make a big difference. Reinforce it, add texture to the pines and come up with something to keep the clamp from slipping. It doesn't take much to make this priceless item as it will last forever. Instead, small savings led to failure. Do better next time.

The vise broke on the first try. It came off completely where it attaches to the table. Poor quality metal was used in the casting. Poorly made. Poor design - it needs a more competent support member. The engineers who designed this clamp should be fired. If you can apply too much torque when attaching it to the bench, then obviously they haven't done any calculations. F+ for design, assembly, metallurgy and destroying Bessie's reputation.
