Type of review

I bought the plug as a cigarette plug which was waterproof. I installed it on my GPS. It worked fine at first, and then every time I plugged it in, my fuse blew. It turned out to be the plug. It was just hard to connect and I found it pretty ridiculous. You have to disassemble the connector and install the wires inside and I found that unnecessarily complicated and I'm pretty sure it ended up with an internal short. I really thought I hooked it up correctly. You can get a connector by just…

Excellent replacement plug

This is a great replacement for the 12v plug. It has a rubber o-ring to keep the socket connection clean and secure. There is a built in replaceable 10 amp fuse. The kit includes a great wire holder and screw terminals so no soldering is required. The connector body is made of heavier plastic and there is a light indicator when it is connected to the network and power is present. Doesn't feel or look like some of the cheaper ones on the market. Great product and worth the price! I would highly…

Very well made, durable after assembly.

Very well made and durable. I suggest securely installing the "inner" grommet and wire clamp before inserting the wires into their respective terminals. The holes in the two electrical clamps are small but adequate for this purpose. I used the plug to replace a DC adapter on my laptop after accidentally damaging the one that came with the 12V DC to AC converter of the adapter had not made a mistake in the wiring for laptop. I don't know how useful the o-ring is, probably depends on the DC…

Good adapter but lock description is misleading

I bought this adapter to use with a matching Blue Sea socket (of which I've had plenty over the years) for my 12v fridge to use trucks. The adapter is good and holds on tighter than most adapters, but it doesn't "snap" into the socket. I expected threads or lugs to physically hold the fork. Instead, you get a relatively firm grip with a rubber grommet that creates a firm friction fit. No mechanical interlock as you would expect from other automotive connectors. I also found the nib for the 15a…

Good quality but difficult to install

Once installed the connector works well but the mechanical connections inside are unnecessarily difficult to install unless you are using very thin cables. I used this connector to connect a 12ga solar panel wire and I had to cut a third of the copper wire strands to fit the small holes in the terminals. Also, you have to be very finicky about cutting the ends of the wires to the right length. Finally, the negative terminal uses a jammed nut, which may fall off during installation, which is…

Update: no longer recommended

Update. Unfortunately, this fork did not perform in the way I thought would become a premium item for the Marine Corps. In addition to the plug getting very hot and drawing your constant 4 amps, its internal spring is now not strong enough to push the tip out on contact with the inside of the socket. Works great when I take it apart, but not when you put it back together. no longer works, except that the plastic screw cap no longer fits the top snugly. Very disappointed. I'm using this to…
