Don't want to poke holes in the car, magnetic mount is the best option. My 2M/70cm BR-180 is a 37" tall 5/8 wave antenna with a center beam and no spring. It's on the higher side. The magnetic mount keeps it secure in the trunk at 80 mph and 50+ cross winds. Doesn't scratch either the varnish.Excellent purchase!

The antenna has been working fine ever since he installed it. It is in good condition and has a long range. So why 3 stars? The magnetic base is very weak. We live on a ranch, it's rough country and it takes a lot of things. If he gets too close to a branch, the antenna will fall off the top of the truck. Our other antenna was never shot down.

I haven't had a chance to use the magnetic mount as it was temporary until I installed a "real" NMO mount in my car. Despite that, it was delivered quickly and the quality seems pretty good. There's always room for improvement, so I'm hesitating between 4 and 5. So far I've settled on 5. I'll get a better feel for the magnetic mount over time and will change my rating if warranted.

I have bought 3 magnetic mounts over the past few years. The previous ones were good but the last one has a problem: this NMO magnetic mount is broken. I use it with a BR-180 dual band amateur antenna. I ordered WSPBR 10353 5/8 NMO Mount Magnet, Black and got this BR-317R instead. When connected to the BR-180 I get an SWR of 10+. the old BR-180 that I have on this new magnetic mount I get an SWR of 10+. This is actually a Browning Browning WSPBR 1035 3 5/8 NMO magnetic mount. The label is incorrect and somewhat confusing as Browning/Tram makes both 3 1/4" and 3 5/8" mounts, the latter being stronger. They also make even larger mounts. This magnetic mount holds my Laird Duell Band antenna for a long time with no problems. The SWR on the antenna is very good and if I want to hide it I just take it off and throw it in the tailgate of the car. I liked it so much I bought another one, this was the second one I've bought.
