Solid box for electrics

This is a good solid box. It does not let the weather through, so it is not suitable for locations exposed to the elements. Knockouts were difficult to hit accurately with conventional hand tools; screwdriver and hammer. I used a dremel with a cutting wheel to help.

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Exchange possible

Good workmanship and reasonable price

Well-made case. I have made boxes similar to this year and can tell the quality level is quite good. Lots of knockouts. thick material. The paint quality is very good. I would like to see the indentations on the mounting holes.

Pros
  • Self-confident
Cons

Durable and professional looking.

This box is specifically designed for commercial/light industrial construction. I would recommend and buy again. The only complaint is that I couldn't easily bang a 3/4" KO out of a 1" KO. This is a manufacturing defect of machine stamps. Use a hole saw if you need one of those 3/4 inch TPs.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Speed

Very hard work. I wasn't expecting much for .

Very hard mode. I wasn't expecting much from a $15 metal box, but this thing is solid. With the changed locks it could probably make a tolerable safe. Of course, mine just keeps the wiring for an automatic window system, so it's completely redundant, but I had to write a review because I was impressed.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not bad

Strong box! Suitable for electricians

This is much more difficult work than I expected. I'm going to put a relay for my water heater in this box. I need to drill some holes in the back to mount it and this is a heavy box so I'll use a drill and some oil to punch it through. The front looks like a lock, but it's just a slotted handle that can be 'locked' with a flathead screwdriver when it's done. I am happy with the quality for the price.

Pros
  • Hands-free work
Cons
  • Available in white only

Very good quality junction box from Budd

Very good quality junction box from the once mighty Budd Company of Detroit. I'm not sure who did it, and maybe Budd is still around, but I don't care. I use it to place a 120VAC temperature controller on a panel in my garage. (See photo) I'm an electrical engineer and in my 30+ years we've easily paid 2-4 times that for similar boxes for industrial applications. I expected to pay more for this quality. It's nice that this is NOT a crappy flimsy tin can. Good seller - fast shipping with no…

  • Durable gray ANSI 65 powder coat finish

Easy to use. in electrical boxes

I bought 3 of these 3 different times for 3 different projects so yeah I'm happy. Otherwise I would not buy again after the original purchase. All had knockout holes that required tools (hammer and punch/screwdriver/chisel) to remove (minor inconvenience) but other than that I have no complaints. and one of the reasons the plugs are hard to remove is because the box is made of thick, heavy-duty metal (which I like). I particularly like the generous size, which makes it easy to work with wires…

Pros
  • Four holes for wall mounting on back
Cons
  • Can't remember

Durable but not comfortable to use.

Perfect size to protect a 240V power relay and very good construction - sheet metal weighs as much as a panel. The only problem was that the knockouts didn't come clean. Punching a small disc also weakened the next size. I spent more time smoothing out the bent bump and drilling a few small holes around the disc to loosen it than installing the case and my component. Perhaps the dies used to stamp the sheet metal were misadjusted or simply worn out, but I would only order this again if I…
