It's plastic! And that's nowhere in the description. I was expecting cast alloy or aluminum like all the other crossbar mounts I've bought. I'm not sure how they will do it, I sent them back.

Like others, I assumed they were aluminum. Who would come up with the idea of making such a retaining clip out of plastic? Well, that's all, as expected, during installation the threads broke. I wouldn't trust them with anything important. return as soon as possible.

Exactly what I needed. My personal application required me to sand down some material to fit where I wanted it. The reason I mention this is because they are a solid build. I was able to work with it without it breaking. Once clamped they are a very strong mount. No teetering on uneven roads.

For an additional $10 you can get a die-cast aluminum version of the Nilight. The maximum internal diameter is said to be for a 2" diameter bar (which it does) but it doesn't grip the bar to prevent it from moving and simply tightening the screws will strip the plastic threads. My mistake is that I assumed that some kind of metal thread was inserted into the yoke.

Very disappointed with this product, it's plastic! I thought it was aluminum. I bought a 1.75 (that's my bullbar tube size) and it didn't work, I couldn't tighten it enough to get the bolts in and I had to use a clamp to get the bolts out. Once the screws were reached and screwed in I released the clamp and it popped out, the screw wouldn't hold because it was just screwing into the plastic (it couldn't handle the resistance).
