Great NVME case, though.

FIX: I removed the pinion gear because the cable that came with it no longer fits properly when connected to the case. Other cables are held firmly in place, but the cable that comes with this case is quite slack, causing it to come loose if struck lightly. I bought it to use with a 2TB nvme drive for a portable game drive for my Razer Blade 15. I get about 1000MB. /s write/read with both cables. It gets a little warm with normal use, but gets very hot when transferring large files. It comes…

Imperfect Enclosure Design for Heat Dissipation The

I bought this item for the ASM chip because I had problems with the JMicron. Quality materials, but as other reviewers have pointed out, the plug-in design combined with the fixed spacing between the drive and the case doesn't allow for adequate (or any) contact to transfer heat. In designs are reserved for high-speed NVMe drives that are known to require thermal management. A disappointing purchase but it's my fault for not checking the design before pulling the trigger.

Pros
  • NVMe to USB-C Enclosure provides convenient and fast data backup for temporary or long-term use. The slim profile is only slightly larger than a flash drive and fits easily in a travel laptop bag.
Cons
  • Almost never

Created a USB drive from an old NVMe

I was helping a friend upgrade his laptop to a larger drive so I needed to copy data from the old NVMe to the new one. The quality of the device is very good. Real metal and good weight. Comes with USB-A and USB-C cables so it works with both old and new laptops. Also included was a thermal tape to protect against overheating. My only comment is that the side where the cable connects to the device is slightly bent, which can wear out over time if you switch cables frequently. USB-C is so fast…

Great NVMe case but instructions would be nice!

First of all, it is an absolute 5-star product in terms of functionality. Once assembled it's easy to use, appears to be very durable, and comes with everything you need (except for the NVMe drive itself, of course). Tested with a fairly cheap 256GB drive and the sequential read/write speed was 1Gb/s, even on a non-Thunderbolt USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port, so great! Gets a little warm so use the included spacer to turn everything into one large heatsink. Then why only 4 stars? It pretty much depends on
