Lost all my photos best in computer accessories and peripherals

used it several times and twice all my photos got erased from sd card. Not sure if it's a phone or an e-reader but somehow I lost hundreds of photos. I don't think it's worth the risk to use it.

Pros
  • delivery was very fast
Cons
  • having problems

Works great on Samsung Galaxy Note 8

I bought this to use to test my road/game camera cards in the woods without taking them back to my computer to check. This device recognized my Samsung Galaxy Note 8 straight away and successfully read every card I've ever put in the slot. Nothing else I could ask or wish for - great product!

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time

Very convenient and reliable Card Reader

I bought this 3.1 Type C for my 2016 Macbook Pro with "15 inch" Touch Bar to import my .raw files to my computer. First let me make sure everyone reading this will consider buying this! Give your import a really good stream and I've tried several USB to USB-C adapters but many of them have USB 2 and not 3! So if you're shooting raw, this is the best way.

Attempting to install Yahoo search software - very doubtful

When I first connected this to my Mac Book Pro, a popup immediately appeared asking me to install my Yahoo search software "To update". I don't have Yahoo search software installed. Also, the dialog itself was clearly not part of my regular system update. This device is clearly trying to inject software and has been compromised. I will return it and never buy from Cable Matters again. Beware!

Live and die with keys

Uggxxx MacBook! Why does everything have to be so difficult? I bought this because the app for transferring photos from my Canon camera to my new MacBook sucks. My previous card reader didn't have USB-C and the intermediary dongle wasn't working, so this was the easiest way to fix it. My guess is that one day the entire planet will be strangled by a mountain of cables and keys that Apple invented and then threw away. Until then it works great as expected.

Well built but loses connection to computer

The device itself is plastic but good enough to survive life on your desk or computer bag. The cable is thick and strong, but a bit stiff -- the device sticks out about 8 inches from the USB port. Might be an issue if you plan on keeping it plugged in, especially if your USB ports are on the back of your PC or iMac. If the SD card is left inserted, the device will automatically turn off at random intervals - 2 or 3 times a day. , in the middle. I don't know if it's the device or if it's a…

Transfers data at the SD card's maximum speed

During testing, we found that this SD card reader transfers data at the SD card's maximum speed - in our case, around 90 MB/s. .Samsung 64GB 100MB/s (U3) MicroSDXC EVO Select memory card with adapter (MB-ME64GA/AM) was used in the test. When using an HP laptop with a factory-installed SD card reader, we observed consistent reads. 89 MB/s speed when using this card. USB 3.1 Type-C memory card reader with dual Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slots is important when using this cable, we saw the…
