Description of ๐Ÿ’ป Cablecc USB 3.1 to USB 3.0 20Pin Header Extension Cable - 20cm Length for ASUS Motherboard

The cable only support usb3.1/usb3.0 device, it can't work at USB2.0(480Mbps). USB 3.1 require a different front panel header than USB 3.0. The USB 3.1 port interface is using the USB 3.0 pin set and more. It is design to be backwards compatible (will explain later). There are no official release of the specs for the USB 3.1 header yet (as of this writing), But first motherboard with this is the ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX FORMULA,STRIX Z270I/Z270G etc. Connector1: USB 3.0 Front Panel Header Connector2: USB 3.1 Front Panel Header. Length: 20cm

Great Extension for Computer Building!

Based on my experience, this extension helped me connect my cables more efficiently. The quality of the wires is impressive and it was easy to install. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey compared to other options on the market. Overall, I highly recommend this extension for anyone building their own computer.

Pros
  • Extends the front header of the motherboard, providing users with more space for additional components.
Cons
  • Does not come with pre-installed connectors, making the installation process more complicated.

Make sure your USB 3.1 connector has 2 active ports.

The cable only works 1 port. I took a chance on my new Asus Rog STRIX E570 Gaming motherboard having 2 active USB 3.1 ports. Unfortunately, it only has to be one port. I had to buy a PCIe X1 expansion card to get a 2-port 20-pin USB 3.0 connector to connect my internal card reader and the USB 3.0 ports on the front of my computer case.

Pros
  • There are no official specifications for the USB 3.1 connector yet (at the time of this writing), but the first motherboard with this connector is ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX FORMULA, STRIX Z270I/Z270G etc.
Cons
  • unreliable

One USB 3.0 port works

Just plugged this into my two USB 3.0 ports on the front of my computer case (which I have previously used for mobile USB 2.0 ports so I know they work) and now it works expected only one more USB 3.0 port, but then again there is ONLY power, there is no data. I was half expecting this as the USB 3.1 ports appear to only be used as one USB 3.1 Type-C port, not two. Just don't expect to need working USB 3.0 ports when you connect ASUS ROG MAXIMUS IX HERO to a 20-pin USB 3.0 port.

Pros
  • USB 3.1 requires a different front panel connector than USB 3.0. The USB 3.1 connector interface uses a USB 3.0 pin set and more. This is a backward compatible design (explained later).
Cons
  • A newer model could have been chosen
