I plugged in an ethernet wall outlet with some kind of waste cable and crimped ends and it was awful. Everything looked right, but I had no signal at my outlet, so I decided to start over. Bought this 50ft cable, left one end of the factory connector and cut the other off, routed it through the wall from our router/switch and then plugged it into a jack. Went like clockwork. The cable works well and is a good price for category 5e, most people don't need category 6. If you're unfamiliar If you don't care about the fastest internet access and don't use cables longer than 45 meters, you know you're perfectly fine with Cat 5e. If you ever need cables that long or are using those 5ft cables in a home electrical installation and are future proofing I would go with Cat 6 or 6a.

Bought 2 of these for our 1GB fiber internet upload/download. It's amazing the difference between a fiber optic radio link and a wired fiber optic link. Our fiber optic WiFi is faster than I need for most things, but connecting some of our devices to a fiber hub with these cables has made a world of difference. I ran speed tests on these cables and got pretty darn close to the full 1GB upload/download speed for fiber that connects directly to our house.

The replacement cable was badly worn, chewed through by at least one mouse and possibly a whole family of mice. The amount of plating the cable lacked was shocking!
