Bought as a spare because I lost my first one. I must have lost it because I kept taking it off to put the mouthpiece through a small hole in my backpack. Ever since I put it on I've made sure it's secure and I've had no issues with it.

The original bite valve broke and was found as a replacement and fits perfectly. I tried ordering on their website which was $6 but shipping on this little piece was $9 so I came to Revain to find the same. $6 and free shipping.

My drinking system was military overkill. Maritime problem I think. It was new when I got it but the bite valve it came with kept leaking. It was kind of a weird twist and then shit. Unnecessarily complex junk. I finally cut that piece of junk off and replaced it with a camelback on-off valve and this bite valve. 100% better.

At first I thought it was the wrong size for the Profile Designs water bottle tube I bought it for, but it stretched to fit the tube without too much trouble . I found I had to bite into it to get the water flowing through and the flow still experiences a lot of resistance. The big advantage is that the water stays in the hose, so you don't have to suck in a lot of air before you get the water.

Thanks to the original mouthpiece that came with the kit I think I was on the road very often for about ten years. About half a year ago it started leaking so I bought this replacement. Like many sports accessories, it probably costs about $0.05 in materials, another penny or so for molded padding, and a lot of profit for someone in the distribution channel. I think it should sell for $0.75 instead of $6, but there's really no alternative; I only need one and I want it to fit and work properly.

First I tried one of the cheaper knockout versions. Unfortunately, I was camping with it and you had to bite down very hard and could hardly squeeze the water out. It's no good puffing and puffing on a mountain and needing water fast. I hadn't even finished hiking before I went to Revain to buy this one. It came in a few days and works just like the original. Quick and easy access to water, no weird taste, no dripping, no very hard nozzle that requires little pressure. Camelbak quality there…
