This is very handy when you want to store something that doesn't need to be sealed. I recently mixed two types of coffee by shaking the canister with the lid on until it stops. The coffee could break out of the container and settle on the threads. If the coffee grounds are allowed to come out, air can get in.

The can is very nice and I like that there is no advertising on it. The mechanism that screws the lid onto the container is a very small movement. I don't understand how to seal it. I'm not a big fan of coffee so it serves my purposes. I like the magnetic lid; holds the scoop of ground coffee.

/ OK. DOES NOT LET AIR PASS. Anything that gets caught in the threads (e.g. coffee grounds or bits of tea) will make it difficult/impossible to fully screw the cap in and is certainly not conducive to the air seal. It should be better but I couldn't find it. My advice is to keep looking. It's overpriced for what it is and does its job well enough.

Gives a nice look on the countertop and allows coffee to be placed conveniently next to the coffee maker without a) showing off the Folgers tin or b) hiding it. cabinet above. The spoon attaches to the top with a magnet, which is also handy (you have to rub the spoon against something before putting it back on the container, so that's a bit moot in terms of convenience). The lid appears to be airtight, so freshness shouldn't be an issue.

I bought this tin to have coffee available rather than keeping the whole tin on the countertop. I chose this canister based on the following factors: 1) No visible logo. (I don't understand why so many companies think it's a good idea to print their obscure logo right on the most visible part. Phew.) 2) A magnetic scoop attaches to the inside of the lid.
