I also read a lot of reviews and was worried about what size to order for my petite 2.5 year old girl. I have absolutely no experience in dancing so wasn't sure if leotards would naturally run small etc. I chose 2-4T for the leotard. I also ordered a small Capezio Tactel zip skirt. For some reason I was expecting more "shiny" / nylon / spandex (typical swimsuit material) but it is very soft and stretchy cotton material with a nice weight that's not too hot for a spring/summer dance without being see through at all, heavy enough to look like it'll hold up well with the wash and I'm not worried about that it sticks. Comfortable material is especially good for a preschooler going to their first dance class / not used to wearing dance costumes / "uniform" clothes etc. It fits
