You should be more familiar with working on carbohydrates.

I bought it because the ATV stood for years and couldn't get all the garbage out of the idle circuit - but I can do NOTHING with this idle The main jet circuit works too badly and doesn't lose in power / drops with speed. These rigs are used on the ranch for hauling in cattle - it's very important to have full throttle when needed. Cheap bullshit, hoping for the best.

Pros
  • so far satisfied
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something

2003 Big Bear 4x4: Motorcycle & Powersports

Fairly easy installation but it wouldn't start when I gave it gas. The main jet was slightly smaller than the original. I ended up sonic cleaning the old one and using it as a recovery kit. Cleaned float, needle valve and seat, most screws and jets except main jet (which was too small). Now it works great, but it was not a replacement and further. I'm at sea level so the smaller main jet might be right up there.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Volume

2003 Yamaha Kodiak didn't work

I have a 2003 Yamaha Kodiak. This carburetor didn't fit my ATV. No matter what I do, the quad stops when I step on the gas. I changed the injectors, adjusted the fuel screw, the idle screw and nothing, it still runs lean. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because I was able to remove a lot of the new parts from the carb and use them on the old carb to make it work. This carburetor was only good for parts.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Terrific. Very important. Fits perfectly.

Replaced the factory carburetor on a 2004 Yamaha Big Bear 400. Returned where the old one came from. Fits perfectly. Don't forget to remove the electrical wires from the old carburetor and connect them to the new one. About 4 ounces of fuel drained through the system, the drain plug replaced. I pressed the start button and it started right away without missing a second. No adjustments are required. Will buy another one for my other Big Bear. Very important.

Carburetor hums - Buy Genuine Yamaha Mikuni

Spit and squirt and only idle at half throttle. You'll need to remove used parts from the OEM board you're replacing in order for it to function properly (if you're lucky). This carburetor is unbolted and finished. Save yourself hassle and wasted money and buy a genuine Mikuni Yamaha 5TE-E4101-01-00. I found one on eBay for $150, a little more than this (you get what you pay for). My old OEM carb lasted 19 years so I would recommend getting an original Mikuni Yamaha carb and be done with it.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires outlet

Don't waste your money or time

I bought 1 of these carburetors to replace my original one. I had my quad at the mechanic and he took a while to get to my work and when he did the newly ordered carburetor was junk and didn't work. At this point, the return window was closed, leaving me stuck with a crappy carburetor. I then ordered a different carburetor, thinking it would be better, but the results were the same. I am returning this carburetor right after completing this review. In conclusion, I finally got the mechanic to…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • I will add later
