JBL Audo Set inexpensive

I have had some Cardo communicators for over 10 years. They had their issues, but overall the speakers were poor. Everyone hated speakers. I was a little skeptical when the JBL update came out and waited a bit for them to fix the bugs. I finally gave up recently and ordered new speakers knowing that if they weren't worth the price I could return them to Revain. I put them on my Bell Eliminator helmet today and they are great. Cardo had to put them in everything they sold years ago. The sound…

Screech and Echo with Sena Intercom

I installed them in my Sena 20S helmet system. I had to take them out. Here's why: 1) There's a bit more bass in the sound quality than the factory speakers, but it distorts quite a bit at max volume. 2) Here's the real problem: I wear earplugs and then crank the volume all the way up. If you do this with these replacement speakers, there will be feedback through the mic, while the factory speakers don't. Why? These cardos plug into the Sena's headphone jack. When using the headphone jack, the…

Best helmet headphones I've ever used

So far. I spent about 1 hour with them and they are amazing. I spend about 20 hours a week in a helmet and have tried every high-end headphone in search of sound quality, volume and comfort. Nobody compares. Bass will never be as good in open-ear headphones. So if you want a lot of bass, get headphones. They have very good bass, even at 60 km/h. I use Sena 20S and Shoei Hornet X2 and they work great with this setup. The volume is also quite loud. Can't comment on durability yet, but they look…

Quality is due to the helmet liner

I originally bought this from Revain but sent back the wrong set and got my money back quickly. Bought locally recently. Sound quality is very important depending on the condition of the helmet earbuds. I've been using my Simpson Ghost Bandit for about 2 years now. Washed them regularly and they diluted a little. Recently replaced the liners after there was a fear. The sound is very different from different earphones. The thinner earbud had less bass and lowered the volume. The new earphones…

No sound profile update on Freedom 4+

The Freecom 4+ firmware comes with a default sound profile from JBL that is only suitable for 40mm drivers. This will not fit 45mm speakers. You can't update the firmware using the QR code provided to get additional sound profiles that make the speakers worth anything. They'll still be too high and hurt your ears if you don't already have an additional audio app on your phone, and will probably still hurt your eyes like they did on mine. Big speakers just mean they don't have enough power. If…

Not impressed and not worth upgrading.

I bought these extra speakers to fit my HJC RPHA 11 Pro motorcycle helmet and to be used with the Cardo Packtalk Bold. I was hoping for significantly improved sound quality and volume when paired with my Samsung S9. There is very little increase in volume or response, and the "modernized" sound profiles for Cardo Packtalk seem useless. Soundstage, Harmon Kardon HD in the car, Pioneer Elite with professional Klipsch speakers at home and the latest Sony MDR1000 wireless headphones for travel and…

I was hoping they were no better than the Sena speakers. They are!

I did a comparison with the Shoei GT Air and they fit my ears perfectly. When plugged into a 3.5 front-facing connector without an adapter, the wiring looks fine. Obtaining the original Sena fork was a bit more involved than expected. Cardo JBLs are probably not suitable for some helmets as they are slightly larger in diameter than Sena speakers and some helmets do not fit Senas by the way. I spent a lot of time positioning the original SenaS speakers in the perfect spot and adding some more…
