Good for a file server with external hard drives. Small, inexpensive computers often only have 2 USB3 ports, so having 4 is good. Ubuntu Server was easy to install and didn't cause any problems. The CPU seems adequate for ZFS and can support gigabit speeds when copying files. 8 GB RAM is also good for large hard drives with ZFS. I bought it to use for home theater and it seems to have enough processing power for that. The fan is a bit noisy, but this is not noticeable during video playback. If you leave your computer on while not playing a video, you may hear fan noise. Unfortunately, I haven't found a small, fanless computer that has enough power for reliable video playback.
