I needed 4 sockets for the project, out of 10 there were only 5 that would accept the plug with reasonable force. The rest did not allow the plugs to be fully inserted. Thinking I was happy with the 4 viable options, I installed them in a project box and then checked for continuity before adding wires. When the nuts are tightened to hold the socket securely, the spade connection has no continuity with the spade, with the nut loose I can measure continuity as I should. I will not return them…

This is a mono TS as described. They have a 3rd solder pin because they include a switchable normally closed terminal. For example, if you want the speaker to play when the plug is unplugged, but then unplug the speaker when you plug it in. If you don't need this functionality, just don't use a switchable soldering tip. Great for my audio projects / DIY synth repair needs. Installed two TVs that only had internal speakers, tried two different units and encountered the same problem. They are used to switch off the internal contact (loudspeaker) when the plug is plugged in. The metal used is too light or not properly heat treated. As soon as you insert the connector, the U-shaped metal element flexes, so that when the connector is removed, this element no longer makes contact with the contact at the bottom of the U (the contact for the internal speaker).
