I recently purchased a solder syringe in the Industrial and Scientific section of Industrial Power & Hand Tools, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the Chip Quik product. Through trial and error, I found that it was difficult to use and messy, leaving me with a lot of extra solder residue. The only pro was that it did melt quite EASILY, but that was overshadowed by all the cons. Don't waste your money on this product..
Pros
Easy to use with precision application for SMD components
Cons
Potential for accidental misuse due to the strong chemical content
This is a decent paste. I make a lot of boards with it. It prints well, wets well, doesn't smudge fine detail, doesn't spatter, and the residue seems pretty harmless. I make very subtle tones with it and the only time I have problems is when I mess up the application (I use laser cut masks). Don't use bismuth based material, I've gone through about a dozen different reflow profiles and it sucked for anything under 0805.
