I needed more speed on my network. I run a home business and have 8 computers on the network. Computers could process large amounts of data quickly. The default speed switches I had could only work on 10/100. I researched and bought two gigabit switches (16 and 5 ports). I also bought the matching network cards (no problem). It was one of the best technology investments I made in 2006.

Purchased card and drivers installed on product CD. There is a problem with the Ethernet LAN cabling going through my APC BX1500LCD Surge Protector (which only supports 10/100 baud rates). The solution was to bypass the APC BX1500LCD's Ethernet to provide Gigabit LAN speeds. Purchase an APC PNET1GB to add RJ-45 security to the PC. Keep this in mind when connecting your PC to the switch/router if you don't get Gigabit LAN after installing the card and drivers from the CD.

Excellent product. I tried setting up a configuration to isolate the DSL modem and then manage the network with two PCs. IP address./if you don't have an Ethernet port. This is your product. I was also able to force install as the CD that came with the product WILL NOT BOOT in Vista or WIN 7. Few steps, but the ethernet card will be installed without damaging your PC.
